A letter from Kathryn Winograd

A letter from Kathryn Winograd, author of Phantom Canyon: Essays of Reclamation:

(She only needs 6 more sponsors to start her project! Help her reach her goal!)

Hey, Friends!

About a month ago, I got contacted by Dan Fletcher at Beacon, a platform for reader-supported journalism.  (You can find out about Dan and Beacon here at the New York Times.)  A friend had recommended me and I was asked if I was interested in developing a new writing project, now called  “Migrations at 9,600 Feet.”   My cabin and forty acres will be the “canary in the mine” I’ll use to write monthly about the environmental issues and wonders that surround us.  You can read more about it here.

I set a goal of 25 subscribers to get this started. When you subscribe, you don’t just get access to my stories but every story by the 100+ writers on Beacon. And your subscription goes to me, every month!

There are two things you can do to help get this off the ground.

1) Subscribe! Every backer helps, and if you’re uncomfortable with monthly subscriptions, you can subscribe for six months or a year without any reoccuring charges.

2) Share this link. Please!  The bulk of pledges come from Facebook and e-mail, so if there are people who you think would be interested in these essays, let them know about it.

Thanks so much for your support. This will be the start of a year long journey.
